Business Development Manager

In business since 1971, MakLoc Buildings Inc. is family owned and is the leader in structural steel building design and manufacturing; supporting custom development for oil and gas, heavy industry, agriculture and commercial industries.

Reporting to the Vice President/General Manager, MakLoc Buildings Inc. is seeking two (2) full-time business development representatives to contribute to the growth of the company by maximizing revenue. The territory includes northern Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba and will be divided on mutual agreement.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong business and personal relationships with existing and potential clientele.
  • Identify trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements; tracking individual contributors and their accomplishments.
  • Close new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements with business operations.
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive database of customers, leads, and potential projects
  • Screen potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials; evaluating options; resolving internal priorities; recommending equity investments.
  • Develop negotiating strategies and positions by studying integration of new venture with company strategies and operations; examining risks and potentials; estimating partners’ needs and goals.
  • Promote MakLoc Buildings Inc. through various means: face-to-face meetings, trade shows, web presence, mail-outs, etc.
  • Responsible for monitoring and ensuring MakLoc maintains a strong web presence.
  • New business prospecting and development, including cold calling, scheduling and conducting client introductions, face-to-face client meetings; preparing presentations, demonstrations, proposals and value propositions to assigned accounts and respond to RFIs and RFPs
  • Protect existing account base and increase revenue and profitability within the account
  • Review sales leads and continuously maintain sustained sales activities within all accounts
  • Develop and manage strategies to ensure continued revenue growth in assigned regions to increase market share
  • Client Relationship Management; continuously engages clients in discussions to understand and anticipate needs; identifies and recommends opportunities for additional businesses.
  • Document all marketing initiatives, and track costs and prepare monthly reports and financial analysis regarding marketing business conditions and strategy effectiveness


Skills and Experience:

  • Strong negotiating skills with the ability to effectively turnaround objections and work around business obstacles
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly develop business relationships
  • Strong analytical skills with preparing business proposals
  • Possesses strong organizational and project management skills
  • Experience with Oil Sands, Mining, Manufacturing or Energy will be considered an asset
  • A self-starter with high level of motivation, enthusiasm and ambition
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to recognize and deliver client-focused solutions based on client needs
  • Sense of urgency and demonstrated commitment to client satisfaction
  • Advanced MS Office & Outlook Skills (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing/e-commerce

 

Other:

  • Requires a valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation
  • Ability to travel across a region
  • MUST be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • Ability to travel within Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba
