Saw Operator / CNC operator / 1st year Apprentice


The successful candidate’s duties shall include, but are not limited to:

  • Safely operating the horizontal band saw (Hyde-Mech)
  • Safely operating the ironworker
  • Safely operating grinder
  • Safely operating CNC Equipment
  • Program CNC files for production
  • Material Handling
  • Other duties as required

**Must be able to interpret blueprints and have experience with both metric and imperial measurements.
Working Conditions

This position will work from both verbal instructions and printed deficiency lists. A 40-hour week is normal, but overtime may be required to meet deadlines. The successful candidate will be working in a manufacturing shop setting. Considerable bending, reaching, and lifting may be required. This position comes with the potential of advancement.

Skills and Abilities

The work is most rewarding for people who enjoy developing special skills and putting them to use in a variety of ways.
To be successful, the candidate must:

  • Be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • Be able to work in a safe and efficient manner
  • Be in good physical condition
  • Possess a mechanical aptitude
  • Have moderate strength, stamina and the knowledge and mindset of proper lifting techniques required to handle heavy tools and parts weighing up to 25 kilograms;
  • Have good hand-eye coordination, good eyesight and manual dexterity
  • Be able visualize a finished product from a drawing
  • Have the ability to stand for extended periods, do some moderately heavy lifting and carrying in a noisy place
  • Possess patience, dependability and accuracy
  • Have the ability to work in a shop environment or outside in the yard
  • Be comfortable working with a variety of hand and power tool such as saws, grinders, drills, cranes etc. as needed
  • Have the ability to take direction, and then report back to a supervisor upon completion of job
  • Possess strong math skills
  • Be able to read and write in English
